AppleNews+
The goal for this project was to design a microinteraction and full additional feature for an already existing digital service. With such a broad possible topic, I had to search within myself and think “What am I interested in?”. The answer as it turns out hasn’t changed much all my life. I love stories and I love to read. Some of my favorite things to read are articles, specifically articles relating to areas of my own interest.
At the same time that I was trying to understand myself, apple launched its latest version of AppleNews; AppleNews +. Part of this new launch was the ability to access hundreds of news providers, but more importantly for me was that it had my favorite news provider wired.
I began to use AppleNews on a daily basis and soon had a list of ideas concerning possible microinteractions and features. What follows are the strongest of those ideas, fully realized visually and conceptually.
Motivation
To improve the reading experience by enhancing a readers ability to recall/ refer to previously read content.
Why AppleNews
Applenews offers readers access to hundreds of magazine and newspaper articles in one place.
However..
with the exception of saving articles, Applenews offers no way for users to form lasting impressions of content they read.
Imagine a notes library
A notes library would allow readers to store and organize notes written while reading articles. Making refering back to previously read content easier and more effecient.
This would improve the reading experience and increase its functionality.
